Introducing MK5 FT-425 Single Turbo from HPA Motorsports Inc.

May 4, 2009 -- Since the debut of the FT series single turbo line in 2005, HPA has been credited with setting the benchmark for durability and performance in the VR6 forced induction arena. HPA’s signature blue silicon hoses have graced many a MK5 and MK4 platform in both single and twin turbo configurations. OEM levels of fit and finish have been backed with seamless integrations of software and power offering up the ultimate turbo experience.

With the introduction of HPA’s CVP intake manifold in 2007, the vision was born to offer modular components that could be used throughout the upgrade path from Naturally Aspirated to Forced Induction; allowing the consumer to retain their investment in key hardware rather than starting over each time they felt the urge for more power.

Expanding on the compact and robust FT single turbo program, and striving for increased performance and sustainable power, HPA is proud to release to the FT425, sporting the CVP intake manifold with HPA’s air to water intercooler setup integrated into the system hereby officially retiring the well known air to air intercoolers.

More than just a turbo “kit”, the FT425 complete Single Turbo System is engineered to exact specifications for each application and includes absolutely everything needed for your technician to install. HPA’s FT 425 Turbo Systems utilize a ball bearing based turbo with proprietary cast intake and exhaust manifolds to spool up quickly and efficiently; generating an incredibly strong power band throughout the entire RPM range resulting in smooth, OE-like performance. On 93 Octane, the FT-425 turbo system produces over 340 wheel hp and 340 ft.lbs. of torque at 0.82 bar/12 psi With many years of experience turbo-charging DSG equipped vehicles dating back to 2005, the FT425 has been engineered to maintain the intricate communication network of OEM sensors and to work within the threshold of the OEM DSG clutch packs; ensuring a trouble free tuning experience even within the complexity of the DSG platform.

• HGP R30 / Garrett Ball Bearing based hybrid turbo
>> Garrett based Ball Bearing Turbo Chargers generate far less frictional drag and are 10 times more durable than traditional journal-bearing turbochargers. These compact units deliver huge power and torque, but are extremely robust. The improvement in turbocharger response, particularly in the lower to mid turbocharger speed range is phenomenal
>> Custom compressor housing with integrated recirculation valve and custom exhaust housing with integrated wastegate
>> Custom HGP Turbo Housings are engineered for superior air flow characteristics and feature an integrated boost recirculation valve for optimized flow control and throttle response.

• Cast exhaust manifold, flow-benched with external Oxygen sensors
>> Velocity Tuned Exhaust manifolds cast from the highest quality materials. Our manifolds retain the CRITICAL orientation and placement of the engine’s Oxygen sensors to ensure correct fuel calibrations and DSG-> engine communications. Our exhaust manifolds will deliver instant throttle response while dispersing generated heat. There are NO design short cuts with this Manifold!

• Cast downpipe feed
>> Flow Optimized cast down pipe feed ensures a perfect fit in tight spaces and aids further in heat dispersion.

• Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold Heatshield
>> Skirted to direct the exhaust manifold’s heat into the flow zone of the firewall.

• DUAL 55mm downpipes with integrated flex joints featuring interlocked liner hose for better flow
>> To ensure the exhaust back pressures for the split bank VR6, we retain the dual catalytic converter set ups; fed with a dual downpipe configuration.

• CVP Short runner cast intake manifold
>> An integral component to Forced Induction tuning, our Calibrated Velocity Port short runner intake optimizes the boost track from the turbo to the intake valves and offers unmatched throttle response. Secure against ballooning and heat, CVP offers an OEM like integration for your turbo.

• Liquid cooled air to water intercooler.
>> With less than 0.2psi of pressure drop, HPA’s self contained cooling system ensures that the turbo system is offering optimized results at all 0-120mph driving speeds.
>> Offering the shortest turbo to throttle body boost track on the market
>> No cutting of the front bumper required.

• Custom wrapped Silicone piping with stainless steel clamps
>> Preformed silicon tubes minimize the air pathway between turbo and motor. This in turn delivers the power faster and more efficiently.

• High flow fuel injectors
